THE OPPORTUNITY

Are you a creative storyteller with a passion for video and social media? NZME is on the hunt for a dynamic Social Media Video Producer to join our fast-paced newsroom on a 6-month fixed-term contract. You’ll be at the forefront of crafting engaging video content that resonates with our audiences across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube. This is your chance to make an impact in a role that blends creativity, journalism, and digital innovation.

HOW YOU’LL DO IT

You’ll lead the charge in producing high-quality, trustworthy video content tailored for social platforms. Using platform-native tools and AI-powered publishing systems, you’ll identify trending stories, write punchy captions and headlines, and optimise video assets to maximise reach and engagement.

Your day-to-day will include:

• Creating and distributing social-first video content.
• Managing and growing NZME’s video channels, including YouTube and TikTok.
• Crafting shareable posts and live coverage that spark conversation.
• Collaborating with the Engagement team and supporting broader newsroom tasks like homepage updates, comment moderation, and multimedia support.
• Using analytics and audience insights to guide content decisions.

ABOUT YOU

You’re a creative powerhouse with a sharp editorial eye and a knack for storytelling. You bring:

• A relevant qualification or newsroom experience.
• Proficiency in Photoshop and video-editing tools.
• A flair for thinking outside the box and pitching fresh ideas.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative spirit.
• A commitment to journalistic integrity and brand-safe moderation.
• The ability to juggle priorities and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

This is a 6-month fixed term contract.
