SixTwelve Music Residencies / Oklahoma City

Website SixTwelve

Are you a songwriter who needs a quiet place to write? Or maybe you are needing to get away to collaborate with someone else and write some beautiful music? Maybe you already have a project in motion, but need a little support for recording, mixing, and mastering? Or maybe you’re ready to take your completed project “on the road” and present it to the world, through a performance?

This year we’re opening our music residencies to people from Savannah, OKC and LA and we’re offering three different types of residencies to which musicians can apply:

  1. Songwriting (Can happen in Savannah, LA or OKC, OKC Residents can choose OKC, Savannah or LA, Savannah and LA residents come to OKC)

  2. Recording, Mixing, Mastering – Must happen in OKC (in order to support our local, Oklahoma recording engineers and studios)

  3. Performance Support – Maybe you already have access to a studio or maybe you’re already past the writing and recording phase and just want to share your work with the world. This option would be good for helping to support a show or two in Oklahoma City.

Here’s all the fine print:

When does this take place?

  • The one week songwriting residency can take place anytime between June 16 and July 31 (except for the weekend of July 4th.) This residency has traditionally taken place in Savannah, but we’re offering this residency in any of the three places so to open up the residency to musicians from OKC, Savannah and Los Angeles. You tell us the week that works best for you within that time frame and we’ll do our best to accommodate it!

  • The recording/mixing/mastering residency can take place anytime from June 16 to December 1, 2025.

  • The OKC performance residency can take place anytime between June 16 and December 5, 2025. One performance could even take place at SixTwelve during a First Friday, but we are happy to give the funds to support shows in other locations as well.

  • Recording/Mixing/Mastering residency can take place at any established recording studio in the Oklahoma City metro area.

Residency Requirements:

1. Songwriting residents agree to write enough songs to produce at least an EP. You must have recorded proof of these songs at the end of your residency. You are welcome to submit a project you already have in the works but it would need to be one that you would take to Savannah to finish.

2. Residents agree to attend one meet and greet with local Savannah, Los Angeles or OKC friends (depending on where the residency is taking place), to help bolster your presence in this community and to extend the reach of your music. This is especially helpful if you return to Savannah to perform at a future date.

3. Residents agree to be filmed for a SixTwelve Residency video that will be released sometime the following year (2026) if not sooner.

4. Residents agree to create four social media posts (across platforms), two on your home pages, two in your stories, highlighting your residency and time in Savannah, OKC or LA and linking SixTwelve in each.

6. Residents agree to one sight seeing day but we will do our best to consider your time needs for your project. The SixTwelve staff and film crew will be on hand and living close by during your residency in order to help wherever/whenever needed but we will absolutely give you your space.

7. Residents agree to clear and consistent communication with SixTwelve staff and film crew, before, during and after residency.

8. Residents agree to follow all local and federal laws while participating in the residency.

9. Residents agree to take good care of the cottage/property while you are there. No parties are allowed.

10. Residents take full liability for their action in Savannah, Los Angeles or Oklahoma City and will hold harmless SixTwelve, Amy Young, All SixTwelve board members and staff.

11. Residents understand that this opportunity is meant for songwriters and musicians only and not family members. You are welcome to plan a family vacation before or after the residency in a different housing location, but the cottage/housing/recording studio is meant only to house those who are in Savannah, LA or OKC to work toward creating music and those who are accepted to the SixTwelve residency. No pets or children are allowed to stay in the cottage. Thank you for your understanding.
