
Cherokee Nation
Leads in all aspects of production of the docu-series “Osiyo, Voices of the Cherokee People” and other documentaries and film and tv projects for Cherokee Nation Cultural and Economic Development. Work with Sr. Manager and Executive Producer to research, pitch, produce and direct short and varied length documentary film for docu-series and all other original content projects. Creative and coordination lead in producing documentary film profiles of Cherokee Nation citizens, history, and culture.
Responsibilities
- Contacts potential story subjects, discuss possible storylines, research historical subjects, decide what video needs to be shot and what images need to be obtained, and secure licensing rights to video and/or images used and writing scripts.
- Works with Cinematographer to ensure scouting of locations and shot lists and all pre-production needs are accomplished and clearly communicated to production team.
- Oversees production scheduling, including placing production shoots on shared calendar, ensuring crew is available for shoots.
- Communicates with Film and TV Production Specialist to ensure production needs for booking freelancers and all travel needs.
- Ensures video and images are stored in the proper locations on the servers and work with Assistant Editor to keep media organized.
- Occasionally acts as a public representative for CNCED film and video projects.
- Provides editing guidance if needed.
- Oversees execution of production rundowns on deadlines.
- Provides on-location production assistance.
- Manages multiple projects independently.
- Works closely with outside contractors and freelancers.
- Ensures historical accuracy in accordance with team historical consultant.
- Independently directs episodes for TV production.
- Manages multiple projects without having direct supervisory responsibilities.
- Work will be performed in a variety of settings, including climate-controlled office settings and/or outdoors in all types of weather including extreme conditions including, but not limited to, extreme cold or heat and snow.
- Work may require travel, including overnight stays.
- Work requires lifting objects up to 50 lbs.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Three (3) to five (5) years of video/television/film production experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere editing software, Adobe Creative Suite.
- Excellent online archival research skills.
- Excellent database skills with Google Sheets, Excel, etc.
