Story / Documentary Editor

TEXAS FILM POST

Documentary • Docu-Series • Reality Television
Freelance | Dallas / Fort Worth | Ongoing Projects

Boutique production company seeking an experienced story editor for multiple upcoming documentary, docu-series, and reality television projects.

We’re looking for someone who understands story first, an editor who can take interviews, verité footage, as well as hundreds of hours of media and craft compelling, emotionally driven narratives.

You’ll work directly with the producers/directors to build episodes from treatments, outlines, interview transcripts, and creative discussions.

Responsibilities
Organize and manage large amounts of footage
Build story edits from raw interviews and verité
Develop narrative structure, pacing, and character arcs
Assemble rough cuts efficiently
Collaborate throughout the editorial process
Meet deadlines while maintaining high editorial quality

Qualifications

Experience editing documentaries, docu-series, reality TV, or other long-form unscripted content.
Strong storytelling instincts and editorial judgment
Adobe Premiere Pro required
Broadcast, streaming, feature, or independent credits are preferred but not required
Exceptional newer editors with strong storytelling ability and work samples are encouraged to apply

What We’re Looking For
We’re searching for someone interested in building a long-term working relationship. We have multiple projects in development and are looking for an editor who is creative, collaborative, efficient, and understands how to build compelling stories from the ground up.
Our projects are independently produced, so we’re looking for someone who can deliver excellent work while being mindful of project budgets. The right fit, reliability, and storytelling ability are more important than an extensive list of credits.
Please do not apply if your experience is primarily limited to social media content, wedding videos, or short-form commercial work unless you can demonstrate exceptional long-form documentary or unscripted storytelling ability.

Please include:
Resume
Reel and/or long-form editing samples (required)
Relevant credits (if applicable)
Your typical day rate or project rate
Location
A brief note about your documentary/reality storytelling experience
Please include links to at least one long-form project that best represents your storytelling ability.

This position has the potential to lead to ongoing work across multiple productions for the right editor.
