Richmond – Full Time set designer/prop master needed for ampa events – ASAP

SET DESIGNER/PROP MASTER:
THIS IS A FULL TIME POSITION WITH AMPA EVENTS, AN EVENT DESIGN AND PRODUCTION COMPANY.
MUST BE ABLE TO PROVIDE PORTFOLIO AND HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH RENDERINGS.

Responsibilities:

  • – Leads the props department in the design, construction, modification, acquisition of all props, and fabrications.
  • Create and manage props budgets, maintaining detailed records of expenses and inventory
  • Source materials and props through purchasing or fabricating
  • Coordinate with scenic designers and management to ensure props meet production design requirements
  • Supervise and train warehouse/scene shop staff
  • Maintain organized storage systems for props inventory
  • Ensure all props meet safety requirements and regulations
  • Attend production meetings
  • Coordinate prop transitions and placement during installs
  • Manage prop maintenance, repairs, and post-event strike processes
  • Will help with installations at night and on weekends, as needed
  • Other assigned tasks as needed.

Event Installations:

  • Pulls orders and assists in loading and return of event equipment
  • Aids in installations requiring carpentry and theatrical lighting.
  • Executes events according to logistic requirements provided from sales
  • am and CRM
  • Constructs structural and scenic elements as required for production
  • Leads and acts as carpenter/installer on production teams

Operations:

  • Acts independently and can take charge
  • Assists with maintenance and cataloguing inventory both physically and digitally
  • Ensures all logistic requirements are carried out according to information provided from the sales team & CRM
  •  Operates efficiently with a focus on maximizing productivity, assisting in the training of team for efficiency, maintains and tracks efficiency goals vs budgeting
  • Manages timelines, deadlines, & workloads
  • Works in a flexible work week, nights, weekends, holidays, as needed
  • Accepts all other relevant tasks as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS: MUST HAVE 3-5 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN THE ABOVE AREAS.

  • Must have experience with lighting, rigging, props, scenery and maintenance of these
  • Sculpting
  • Scenic Painting
  • Advanced experience with scene shop tools
  • Needs to be available for night and weekend installations.
  • Managing of others
  • Experience with scheduling
  • Positive attitude
