Light House Studio freelancer

Light House Studio

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Whether you’re interested in camerawork, lighting, sound recording, editing, or graphic design, you can build your experience with Light House freelance work. You’ll work directly with clients, build connections, create schedules, and deliver materials on time – building essential skills for any career.

COMPENSATION:

Compensation varies from project to project; some are volunteer opportunities and others are paid, with rates dependent on budget and experience. High schoolers in the Albemarle or Charlottesville public school systems may be able to earn work-based learning credit. Some projects count towards community service hours.

ELIGIBILITY:

Current high school or college students in the Charlottesville area are welcome to apply. These opportunities are for students with advanced video experience, either through Light House classes or independent work; beginners are encouraged to join us for workshops to build their skills! Students under 18 are allowed to join with permission from a parent or guardian.

HOW IT WORKS:

Fill out the freelancer application anytime! The application includes links to past work and a reference. Qualified applicants will be interviewed by Light House staff and, if approved, added to the freelancer database. Freelancers will get email invitations for upcoming projects matched to their skills and availability. Applicants who are not selected are welcome to reapply after 12 months.

Work is usually within the Charlottesville/Albemarle area but may involve some travel. Indicate the times you’re usually available in your application as schedules vary by project. Compensation, if applicable, will be by check after each project is completed.

High school and college students with advanced video production experience can apply to become freelancers with Light House Studio. Light House offers video services to local organizations, businesses and artists. Projects range from filming and editing video content to assisting with live events and filmmaking workshops.

If selected as a Light House freelancer, you will receive announcements about upcoming projects. Compensation varies between projects: some are paid and some are volunteer work or eligible to count as community service hours.
