Victory Day commemorates the end of World War II with the surrender of Japan during the war, on August 14, 1945.
Victory Day was originally celebrated all across the United States, until 1975 when all states but Rhode Island eventually dropped the holiday. It remains a state holiday in Rhode Island, so some businesses and all schools as well as government buildings are closed, many people have the day off to participate in the celebrations.

Vision Maker Media Funds Nearly $1.2 million in Direct Film Funding to Support Native Films
Vision Maker Media (VMM) is proud to announce new film productions by and about Native Americans. VMM has funded $1,500,000 to eleven documentaries through its Public Media Fund for future television broadcasting and $115,000 through its Creative Shorts Fellowship fund to emerging Native filmmakers and their film mentorships. .

Texas Music Incubator Rebate Program Application Window for Fiscal Year 2024 Opens September 1, 2024
The Texas Music Incubator Rebate (TMIR) Program is the historic tax rebate program for independent Texas music venues and festivals and is administered by the Texas Music Office (TMO), with $20.2 million in funding. TMIR Program will provide qualifying music venues and festival promoters in Texas a full or partial rebate of the mixed beverage gross receipts taxes or sales taxes attributable to the sale of beer and wine in the prior fiscal year to help support the live music industry in communities across the state. Applications for year two open on September 1, 2024 at 9AM CST.
