Glasgow Short Film Festival 2026 announces award winners

The Scottish Short Film Award honours inspiration and innovation in new Scottish cinema, and saw 21 new films compete. Named in honour of the legendary Scottish filmmaker, the Bill Douglas Award for International Short Film promotes cinematic storytelling that places sound and image centre stage. Native Youth Media Project

Storytelling remains a primary source of educating one another. The Native Youth Media Project is dedicated to training Native youth in filmmaking skills, providing them with the tools to become Vision Makers within their own communities.

Our training program achieves:

The 2026 Film Development and Production Fund exists to offer development and production funding for feature length films and documentaries being made by filmmakers based in Scotland.

This fund can support the following stages of the process:

• Single Project Development Funding: support towards the initial development costs of a single feature film or documentary project.
• Film Production Funding: support towards the production costs for a film or documentary project

The aim of this funding is to support filmmakers who are working in live-action, animation and documentary, to develop a range of feature film projects across all genres that reflect Scotland’s culture, creativity and diversity.   LEARN MORE

Andy Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant

The grant supports emerging and established writers who write about contemporary visual art. Ranging from $15,000 to $50,000 in three categories—articles, books, and short-form writing—the grants support projects addressing both general and specialized art audiences.

NORTHERN IRELAND SCREEN

The ILBF 2026 provides both development and production funding across a wide range of television genres, for content broadcast on BBC NI, TG4 and RTÉ. 

The ILBF will usually invest a maximum of £400,000 in a project, up to a ceiling of 75% of the overall agreed project costs and will require that no less than 70% of those project costs are spent in Northern Ireland. Learn More
